Funding Programs organize how funds are presented and selected during grantmaking. They allow funds to be grouped so users request grants from the correct category instead of choosing from all funds individually.

This document outlines how Funding Programs and the related objects can be used to manage grantmaking in your organization. The Funding Program object is designed to be the object where 

====What Funding Programs Affect====

Funding Programs control:
  * Which funds appear together during grant requests
  * How users select funds
  * How grant opportunities are organized for staff or applicants 

=== Using Funding Programs ===
Create a Funding Program based on types of programs your organization grants money to. This can be as simple or complex as needed to group programs and track funding requests by program. If your organization is using a grant application portal, this is the record the applicant will see to determine if their org's program meets the requirements to apply for a grant. The Status field can be used to show/hide the record on a portal. Customize as needed to meet your org's needs.

  * Adjust Page Layout to include additional fields and Related Lists
  * Be sure and include the Funding Request as a Related List 
  * Other Lists to consider are Fund Expenditure (if there is a lookup field on the Fund Expenditure to the Funding Program)
  * Adjust the Lightning Page as needed

  * Adding a new grant initiative
  * Reorganizing how staff choose funds
  * Separating internal vs external grant opportunities

====Common Questions====

**Does this change grant budgets?**
No — budgets come from spending policy and fund balances.

**Why can’t I see a fund in grant request?**
It may not belong to the selected Funding Program.

**Is this required?**
Only if your organization organizes grants by program instead of selecting funds individually.
