Letter Output

This section is for understanding how to use Letter Generation and specifically, Letter Output. Letter Output is the object used to generate the merged letter based on data record(s) and the Letter Template created in the previous steps. This Letter Ouput record is connected to a Funding Request or Opportunity record and includes the fully merged letter. Use a document merge tool to generate Word documents or PDFs for printing or saving to records or attaching to emails.

• fdnp_cf1__Letter_Template_Generate_Template (a subflow called that generates the Letter Output record based on the data record and Letter Template record). See the flows listing on the Letter Template and Letter Template Merge Fields setup page.

• Use the button created on the Letter Template and Letter Template Merge Fields setup page.
• Click the button created in the previous setp to open the screen flow and work through the screens to generate the Letter Output record
• Once the Letter Output record is generated, the flow saves the record to the related list.
• Use a document merge tool to merge this record with a Word document template for printing
• For email notifications, create the Letter Template as an Email (Template Type field) then generate the Letter Output record. Then use a flow to send email notifications using the Template Body Final field as the merged field of the email body.

The Letter Generation process can be customized to bypass the screens in the merge process. Another flow can also be created to autoassign Letter Templates based on a set of rules.
